Business Retention & Expansion Council

Premium & Lead Investors Only

 The Business Retention & Expansion Council will assist with industry-specific round-tables and confidential one-on-one meetings with companies to address strengths and challenges in the business community. 

Life Sciences Task Force
Focuses on catalyzing the growth of our regional life sciences ecosystem through initiatives like infrastructure enhancement, workforce development, business attraction, and advocacy for supportive policies. The task force aims to position the region as a dynamic hub for life sciences innovation and economic prosperity.
Education Council

This council will offer strategic guidance on regional education, talent development, workforce policy priorities, and efforts dedicated to fortifying the Central Texas talent pool. 

Talent Council

Focuses on deepening the region’s talent pool through workforce policies. Members will provide feedback on talent trends, support employer-school connections, and inform Opportunity Austin’s strategies for key sectors. 

Global Investment & Innovation Council

Focuses on bringing more foreign direct investment to the region, enhancing visibility for startups in the region, and helping local companies expand into foreign markets.

  • Global Capital Growth Sub-Council 

    Focuses on enhancing and expanding global capital investment in the Austin region through promoting the area in international and domestic capital hubs, recruiting foreign direct investment, and assisting both local and international companies in their expansion efforts. 

  • Innovation Task Force

     The mission for this task force will be to help determine the structure and content of a startup awards program and subsequently assist in both the development and execution of the event. 

  • International Export & Recruitment Sub-Council 

    Focuses on international recruitment efforts and supports regional businesses in expanding into foreign markets. 

  • Soft Landing Sub-Council 

    Guides the development of a regional “soft landing” program, designed to help international organizations adapt smoothly when moving to the Austin region.

Policy & Advocacy Council

The Policy & Advocacy Council engages with policymakers and the public to shape, champion, and implement public policies that promote growth and innovation by enhancing quality of life in our region.

  • Affordable Housing Task Force
    The Affordable Housing Task Force will work with local and regional policymakers and community leaders to identify and promote policies that create safe and affordable housing solutions throughout the entire region.
  • Infrastructure Sub-Council
    This sub-council will include a specific focus on advancing mobility, water, and energy/electricity to ensure safe & reliable infrastructure for our region.
  • Public Safety Task Force
    The Public Safety Task Force will focus on addressing safety in our region through collaboration with policymakers, law enforcement, and the community through grassroots activities and communications.
Marketing Advisory Council
Composed of investors who are committed to promoting the prosperity of our region through innovative marketing strategies and collaboration. These leaders will guide and inform the brand of Opportunity Austin and additional industry specific marketing initiatives.
Air Services Task Force
Composed of investors who are dedicated to fostering strategic growth and development for our region through optimization of air travel services by improving airport infrastructure and strategically securing direct flights.

Composed of our local government economic development partners, this council serves as a strategic platform for informing strategies and tactics to ensure strategic alignment throughout the region. This council will focus on promoting the Austin region on a global level as a business and talent destination.
