From Frontman to Founder: Innovating Life Sciences in Austin

Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World, drawing top talent from across the globe and fostering an environment where innovators can thrive. Casey McPherson is a prime example: what began as a career in music transformed into a mission to change lives. When his daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, he shifted his focus from touring to drug development, founding AlphaRose Therapeutics (formerly Chrysalis Genetics) to pioneer treatments for rare diseases.

AlphaRose Therapeutics was founded in 2024 in Austin, Texas, by a musician determined to find a cure for his daughter’s condition. As the sole employee, McPherson has secured funding, partners, and resources to scale his mission, with offices in Houston and Boston that connect with a network of parents motivated to do the same for their children.

His journey reflects the entrepreneurial spirit that defines Austin’s growing life sciences ecosystem. With a culture that supports bold ideas and cross-industry innovation, Austin is becoming a hub for groundbreaking advancements in biotechnology and beyond.
