INSIGHTS
- There were approximately 67,477 available job postings during our January 2026 monthly reporting period, a decrease of 1,710 from 69,187 postings when compared to December 2025. New, first-time job postings totaled 25,659 in January and represented 38% of all available job postings, a 5% decrease from December 2025. Regional new job postings decreased by 12.5% in the Austin–San Antonio metros, while Houston–Dallas metros saw a 16.4% decrease compared to the previous month.
- Approximately 13%, or 9,030 of all available job postings, during the January 2026 reporting period fell under Management occupations, while 6,848 available job postings fell under Healthcare Practitioners and Technical occupations, and an additional 2,179 fell under Healthcare Support occupations. This combined total reflects 9,027 postings in healthcare occupations and shows consistently strong demand for healthcare talent in our region. Sales-related postings totaled 7,379, and Computer and Mathematical occupations totaled 7,101, each respectively accounting for 11% of total available job postings for this reporting period.
- A total of 1,948 postings offered “signing bonuses,” a marginal increase of 103 postings from the previous month.
- Fifty-six percent, or 38,089 available job postings, pay an annual median wage between $25,000 and $75,000. Of these, 46% (17,652) require a high school diploma as the entry-level education, and 18% (6,666) require associate or bachelor’s degrees.
- There are about 1,065 internship positions posted, in-person or hybrid. The top three companies with the most postings are Amazon, IBM, and the State of Texas.
- There are 1,109 jobs posted within the Austin venture capital, startup, scaleup, and innovation ecosystem on the Austin Ecosystem Dealroom Platform for this reporting period.
- For November and December 2025, the Austin region saw a total of 4,272 jobs announced through new relocations or expansion plans. Announcing new location plans were companies such as Anywaves Federal (10 jobs), Compal/Compal USA (1,000 jobs), Perseus Defense (130 jobs), Southwest Airlines (2,000 jobs), Bull Equipment (20 jobs), CS Erickson (52 jobs), CynLr (50 jobs), and McKinstry (50 jobs). Expansions included Creative 3D (45 jobs), Valstad Shipworks (18 jobs), ARM (200 jobs), Bravo Ordnance (17 jobs), Nvidia (650 jobs), and Phoenix Semiconductor (55 jobs).
