There were approximately 68,612 available job postings during our May 2025 reporting period, an increase of 944 from 67,668 postings in April 2025. There were 28,862 first-time job postings, an increase of 727 compared to the previous month. New job postings in May 2025 represented 42% of all available postings, holding steady from April 2025. New job postings increased by 2% in the Austin and San Antonio metros and by 4% in the Houston and Dallas metros.
- Approximately 12%, or 8,415, of all available job postings during May 2025 fell under Management Occupations, while 6,247 postings fell under Healthcare Practitioners and Technical, and 2,066 under Healthcare Support. This combined total of 8,313 healthcare-related postings reflects strong demand for healthcare talent in the region. Sales-related postings totaled 7,722 and Computer and Math-related postings totaled 7,390, each accounting for 11% of all available job postings this period.
- A total of 1,816 postings offered signing bonuses, an increase of 13 from the previous month.
Fifty-six percent, or 38,472, of available job postings pay an annual median wage between $25,000 and $75,000. Of these, 47% (17,895) require a high school diploma as the entry-level education, and 19% (7,325) require an associate or bachelor’s degree.
There are about 851 internship positions posted, either in-person or hybrid.
The top three companies with the most postings remain Amazon, State of Texas, and AMD.There are 2,973 jobs posted within the Austin venture capital, startup, scaleup, and innovation ecosystem on the Austin Ecosystem Dealroom Platform for this reporting period.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Austin MSA reported the unemployment rate at 3.3% in May 2025, an increase of 0.2% from the prior month. The total number of unemployed in the Austin MSA is about 50,900, an increase of 2,800 from the April reporting period. In May 2025, there were 18,512 more available job postings than the unemployed.
