INSIGHTS
- There were approximately 70,332 available job postings during our February 2026 monthly reporting period, an increase of 6,966 jobs from 63,336 postings when compared to January 2026. New, first-time job postings totaled 33,810 in February and represented 48% of all available job postings, an 8% increase from January 2026. Regional new job postings increased by 36.7% in the Austin-San Antonio metros, while Houston-Dallas metros saw a 25.6% increase compared to the previous month.
- Approximately 14%, or 8,424, of all available job postings during the March 2026 reporting period fell under Management occupations, while 6,806 available job postings fell under Healthcare Practitioners and Technical occupations, and an additional 2,186 fell under Healthcare Support. This combined total reflects 8,992 postings in healthcare occupations and shows consistently strong demand for healthcare talent in our region. Sales-related postings totaled 7,977 and were 11% of total postings available. Computer and math-related postings totaled 7,001 and were 10% of total available job postings for this reporting period.
- A total of 1,926 postings offered “signing bonuses,” a marginal increase of 59 postings from the previous month.
- Fifty-five percent, or 38,994, of available job postings pay an annual median wage between $25,000 to $75,000. Of these, 46%, or 17,792, will require a high school diploma as the entry-level education, and 20%, or 4,108, will require associate or bachelor’s degrees.
- There are about 1,191 internship positions posted, in-person or hybrid. The top three companies with the most postings are the State of Texas, Amazon, and IBM.
- There are 1,196 jobs posted within the Austin venture capital, startup, scaleup, and innovation ecosystem on the Austin Ecosystem Dealroom Platform for this reporting period.
- For January 2026 and February 2026, the Austin region saw a total of 5,257 jobs announced through new relocations or expansion plans. Announcing new location plans were companies such as 3billion (200 jobs), Digital Brands (30 jobs), and Togetherwork (250 jobs). Announcing expansion plans were Allen Control Systems (232 jobs), ARM (120 jobs), HDG (2 jobs), Skyways Air Transportation (30 jobs), CesiumAstro (500 jobs), EOS (10 jobs), Neurophos (55 jobs), Transpak (325 jobs), and WebAI (50 jobs).
- Unemployment stood at 3.7%, with approximately 57,600 unemployed in the Austin MSA. There were approximately 12,732 more jobs posted than unemployed adults for this reporting period.
