Opportunity Austin Presents the 2024 A-LIST Awards

Opportunity Austin presents the 13th annual A-LIST Awards, in partnership with SXSW, which celebrate and spotlight the region’s entrepreneurial spirit and technological innovation.

Austin, TX – August 1, 2024 – Opportunity Austin presents the 13th annual A-LIST Awards, in partnership with SXSW, which celebrate and spotlight the region’s entrepreneurial spirit and technological innovation. 

Last year’s winners included notable companies such as Urban Betty, ConverseNow, Osano, angel investor CarbonBetter, and venture capital firm S3 Ventures. Opportunity Austin is thrilled to announce applications are now open for the 2024 A-LIST Awards.

“The Austin region’s robust and ever-expanding ecosystem of startups, scaleups and innovators provides our region with a competitive edge globally,” said Roland Peña, Senior Vice President for Global Investment and Innovation for Opportunity Austin. “The A-LIST Awards highlight the companies, entrepreneurs and investors that continue to define Central Texas as a thriving hub of innovation.”

The A-LIST Awards will recognize companies in various stages of growth and innovation, a venture capital firm and new this year, awards in AI, C-Suite Leader, Emerging Startup, and a People’s Choice. Categories for applying include:

  • Growth Catalysts Awards, which recognize companies focused on growth, acceleration, and impact based on the type and size of the funding received:
    • Bootstrapped (Self-funded business)
    • Seed ($1 million – $4 million)
    • Series A ($4 million – $15 million)
    • Series B ($15 million – $40 million)
    • Series C+($40 million – $100+ million)
  • AI Standout Innovation Award
  • International Startup of the Year Award
  • C-Suite Leader Award
  • Venture Capital Firm of the Year Award
  • Emerging Startup Award
  • People’s Choice Award

Applying for the A-LIST Awards offers numerous benefits to businesses and entrepreneurs. Pitchbook released their Q2 Venture Capital report, showing that companies in the Austin region raised approximately $6.5B YTD, more than twice the money raised in the same period during 2025 ($2.9B). STEM occupations account for over 11.1% of all jobs in the Austin MSA in 2024, making Austin the 6th most concentrated in STEM among large U.S. metros. Since 2019, STEM occupations in Austin have grown by 17%, adding 20,000 jobs and bringing the total number of workers to 139,820.
