Taiwan’s Pegatron acquires Georgetown site

Pegatron announced Oct. 27 that it acquired a roughly 169,000-square-foot building in the Blue Springs Business Park at 610 Blue Springs Blvd. in Georgetown, a city of about 101,000 people 30 miles north of Austin. It will be the company’s first factory in the United States.

Pegatron does design, manufacturing, research, development and more. Its products include notebooks, desktop personal computers, motherboards, video graphics arrays, cable modems, set-top boxes, smartphones, game consoles, tablet personal computers, automotive electronics and smart home devices.

“The global technology manufacturing industry is evolving rapidly as companies look to strengthen supply chains and bring advanced production closer to their customers,” Opportunity Austin CEO Ed Latson said in a statement.
