The Surge: June 2024

Austin’s Economy Continues to Thrive

With the arrival of summer, there is a lot to be excited about, including our region’s economic position. If you didn’t see it, our unemployment rate improved to 3%, a telling sign that despite isolated layoffs, employment remains strong. In fact, Austin was the 9th best-performing metro among the top 50 for the year ending in April, adding 28,900 jobs across nearly all major private sectors. Recent census data also showed that Georgetown, Leander, and Kyle are among the top 20 fastest-growing cities in the country. This growth is no surprise.
