There were approximately 65,818 available job postings during the November 2024 reporting period, an increase of 476 from 65,342 postings in October 2024. There were 27,178 first-time job postings, an increase of 1,405 compared to the previous month. New job postings in November 2024 represented 41% of all available job postings, an increase of 1% from October 2024. New job postings decreased by 5% in the Austin and San Antonio metros, while the Houston and Dallas metros saw a 0.3% increase compared to the previous month.
Approximately 13%, or 8,208, of all available job postings during the November 2024 reporting period fell under Management Occupations, while 6,492 postings fell under Healthcare Practitioners and Technical, and an additional 2,045 fell under Healthcare Support. This combined total of 8,537 healthcare-related postings highlights the strong demand for healthcare talent in the region.
There are currently about 840 postings indicating vaccination requirements, a decrease of 24 compared to the previous month. Top employers mentioning vaccination requirements include CBRE, Aveanna Healthcare, and CVS Health.
A total of 1,908 postings offered “signing bonuses,” a decrease of 135 compared to the previous month.
Fifty-five percent, or 36,172, of available job postings pay an annual median wage between $25,000 and $75,000. Of these, 48%, or 17,257, require a high school diploma as the entry-level education, while 16%, or 5,948, require at least a bachelor’s degree.
There are about 1,279 internship positions posted, both in-person and remote. The top three companies with the most postings are Amazon, Lumen Technologies, and the State of Texas.
There are about 1,612 jobs posted within the Austin venture capital, startup, scaleup, and innovation ecosystem on the Austin Ecosystem Dealroom Platform as of November 12, 2024.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Austin MSA reported an unemployment rate of 3.5% in October 2024, an increase of 0.1% from the prior month. The total number of unemployed in the Austin MSA is about 52,700. In November 2024, there were 13,118 more available job postings than unemployed individuals, a decrease of 731 compared to the prior month.
In November 2024, the Austin region saw a total of about 1,455 jobs announced through new relocations or expansion plans. Announcing new location plans were companies such as Xiquan Automotive Trim (Changzhou, China), creating 700 jobs. The expansion list represents 755 new jobs, including companies such as Accelsius, Overwatch Mission Critical, SpaceX, and US Foods.
