Opportunity Austin and Austin Business Journal merge startup awards programs

Two awards programs that honor impressive startups and supporters of the upstart ecosystem in the Austin area are merging this year.

Austin’s startup story is entering its next chapter.

Opportunity Austin is proud to partner with the Austin Business Journal to bring the A-LIST Awards and Fire Awards together under one expanded platform recognizing the companies, founders, investors, and ecosystem builders shaping Austin’s innovation economy.

For more than a decade, A-LIST has helped spotlight high-growth startups and emerging companies across the Austin region. As Austin’s startup ecosystem has continued to scale, with more than 11,000 startups, 1,300 VC investors, 5,900 funding rounds, and 88 unicorns, this partnership creates a stronger stage to celebrate the people and companies driving the region’s next chapter.

“Austin’s startup ecosystem has reached a new level of scale and impact,” said Susan Davenport, President and CEO of Opportunity Austin. “By joining forces with the Austin Business Journal’s Fire Awards, we’re creating a larger platform to recognize the founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders building companies that are shaping industries and strengthening the Austin region’s global competitiveness.”

Nominations are open now through July 27, with winners to be recognized at the Fire Awards on Oct. 19.
