- Approximately 56,270 available jobs were posted during the January 2024 monthly reporting period, a decrease from 56,360 postings when compared to December 2023. There were 22,135 new postings, an increase of 3,364 first-time postings when compared to the previous month. New job postings in January 2024 represented 39% of all available job postings, 6% more than in December. New job postings increased by about 15% in the Austin and San Antonio metros and 22% increase in the Houston and Dallas metros compared to the prior month.
- Approximately 12% or 7,030 of all available job postings during the January 2024 reporting period fell under Management Occupations while 6500 available job postings fell under Healthcare Practitioners and Technical, and an additional 2094 fell under Healthcare Support, showing continued strong demand for experienced and healthcare talent in our region.
- There are currently about 672 postings indicating vaccination requirements, a decrease of 459 postings compared to the previous month. Top employers mentioning vaccination requirements include CVS Health, Aveanna Healthcare and PayPal.
- 2,143 postings offered signing bonuses, an increase of 140 postings when compared to the previous month.
- Sixty one percent, or 34,355 of available job postings pay an annual median wage between $25,000 to $75,000. Of these,47% or 16,210 will require a high school diploma as the entry-level education, and14% or 4,726 will require at least a bachelor’s degree.

The total number of unemployed in the Austin MSA is about 43,200. In January 2024, there were 13,070 more available job postings than the unemployed a 1,270 increase compared to the prior month.
